(#197) Neuroplasticity & the Gratitude Breath

“Every time you take in the good, you build a little bit of neural structure. Doing this a few times a day—for months and even years—will gradually change your brain, and how you feel and act, in far-reaching ways.”

– Rick Hanson, Ph.D., Buddha’s Brain

Here’s a simple way to take in the good—that is, practice gratitude—a few times a day to change your brain: Take a couple of breaths and think to yourself, “This is great! I have an abundance of the most valuable resource known to our species, and I don’t even have to work that hard to get it!”

P.S. I start every breathing practice like this.  Sometimes it feels too strained, and I don’t notice much of anything.  But sometimes, it profoundly shifts my mindset, and each breath is that much better.
