“This new way of inducing a respiratory bodily illusion, called “embreathment,” revealed that breathing is almost as important as visual appearance for inducing body ownership and more important than any other cue for body agency.”
- The “embreathment” illusion highlights the role of breathing in corporeal awareness
The “embreathment” illusion <-- if that’s not the coolest thing you’ve seen in a science paper, I don’t know what is : )
This excellent paper used a neat virtual reality experiment to highlight the importance of breathing for our sense of embodiment.
It was amazing, so I hope you enjoy the new Science 411 (and all my speculation about what these results might mean…)
In good breath,
Nick
